Retinol Palmitate (retinyl palmitate) is a form of Vitamin A. It is an ester formed by combining retinol (vitamin A) and palmitic acid, which is a saturated fatty acid and a major component of palm oil. Retinol palmitate is easily absorbed by the skin and is converted into retinol (vitamin A) upon absorption. It appears as a yellow or yellow-red solid or oily substance.
Retinol palmitate is known for its ability to be absorbed transdermally, helping to reduce keratinization, stimulate collagen and elastin production, and increase the thickness of both the epidermis and dermis. This enhances skin elasticity, effectively reduces wrinkles, promotes skin renewal, and maintains skin vitality.
It is commonly used in formulations for eye creams, moisturizers, repairing creams, shampoos, conditioners, and other skincare products.
