Ectoine, registered in cosmetics under the name 4-methylhydropyrimidine-2-carboxylic acid, is an amino acid derivative. It is primarily produced commercially through a "bacterial milking" process using moderate halophilic bacteria. Ectoine is not only capable of balancing cellular osmotic pressure but also offers excellent protection for enzymes, DNA, proteins, nucleic acids, cell membranes, and the entire cell under extreme environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, freezing cold, drought, extreme pH, high pressure, high salt, and high radiation.
Ectoine is widely used in cosmetics, particularly in skincare products such as face masks, creams, serums, and sunscreens.
No toxic or harmful chemicals used during production.
