As an edible and medicinal plant resource, bamboo leaves have a long historical record in China and other countries. Bamboo leaf extract has various physiological activities and plays an important role in protecting human health. In 1998, the Chinese Ministry of Health recognized bamboo leaves as an herbal medicine.
Bamboo leaves are rich in flavonoids, which are also one of the most important secondary metabolites in plants. Literature analysis shows that 21 kinds of flavonoids have been found in bamboo leaves, mainly existing in the form of glycosides, divided into O-glycosides and C-glycosides, with flavone C-glycosides being the main type. There are four main active compounds of flavone C-glycosides.
