Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) is a key precursor to coenzyme Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+). This naturally occurring compound is a nucleotide derivative of Vitamin B3, also known as niacin or nicotinamide. NAD+ is a crucial molecule involved in various metabolic pathways, but its levels naturally decline with age, leading to impaired cellular functions and increased susceptibility to age-related diseases.
Numerous studies suggest that supplementing with NMN to boost NAD+ levels could have profound health benefits. By increasing NAD+ levels, NMN is believed to activate certain enzymes involved in DNA repair. Notably, animal studies have shown promising results. Like Nicotinamide Riboside (NR), NMN is also a derivative of niacin. Humans can use NMN to produce Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NADH).
